Les Jardins d'Épicure - Hôtel & restaurant gastronomique

We had booked this hotel as a an end to our holiday in France. The check in was the most unwelcoming I’ve ever had, no information about the hotel was given, the restaurant, spa and bar was closed. Our room was in a converted stable block, it was dark and dusty. There was a voss mineral water bottle in the room the seal was broken and the bottle top was dirty, this had clearly been refilled with tap water. We were told if we took the bottle from the room we would be charged €30!!! I didn’t even want to drink from that dirty bottle!! Mid afternoon the gardener started to burn laurel leaves, which smoked out the garden and our room. This smoky fire went on all night and in the morning we had puffy eyes and coughs from the smoke in our room. At this point we wanted to check out and cancel our 2nd night. The people who run this hotel seem to have little concern for their guests in our opinion. The lady on checkout was much more helpful and understood how bad our experience had been. She reduced the room rate and checked us out with an apology. Never again, despite its looks, it felt pretentious and unwelcoming.

And with its close proximity to Giverny, art and history enthusiasts will find it a convenient base to explore the erstwhile home of the famed artist, Claude Monet. Yet, what truly sets Les Jardins d'Épicure apart is not just its surroundings, but the impeccable attention to detail within its walls. The establishment is a masterclass in harmonizing luxury with coziness. Each room has been thoughtfully designed, offering both comfort and elegance in equal measure. But no review of Les Jardins d'Épicure would be complete without a nod to its heart and soul – the wonderful staff. Their genuine warmth, combined with an unmatched professionalism, ensures that every guest feels right at home. They are ever-present, yet unobtrusive, always ready to assist and enhance your stay.

We stayed one night in villa Florentine. The building is old and has an interesting history. The rooms look like they have been renovated quite recently. The river that runs through the grounds is very picturesque and was a nice place to cool down after our long bicycle ride on Avenue Verte during the heatwave. The only problem was the food or rather the lack of it - the village/town was deserted, and the hotel's restaurant closed during our stay (Mondays and Tuesdays). For those arriving by car it's probably less of a problem but if you just cycled 60km in a 34C heat, the last thing you want is add another 20km in search for something to eat. There were other quirks like wifi access for guests was limited to 24hrs.

Week-end romantique pour la saint Valentin dans la chambre vue sur le ciel. Superbe accueil de la réceptionniste, très professionnel, agréable et souriante. Chambre propre et très jolie décoration. Simple et lumineuse. Restauration sur place, cuisine très fine et délicieuse. Personnel très agréable et serviable. Petit déjeuner extrêmement copieux. Le cadre de cet établissement correspond tout à fait à ce qu’on cherchait. Cosi, chaleureux, intime, romantique, calme. Merci à tout le personnel pour son accueil, sa gentillesse et sa discrétion.

Il n'y a pas grande trace d'Epicure dans ce restaurant. Dîner très décevant, bien dommage c'etait pour une occasion. Que ce soit l'accueil, le service ou l'assiette ; pas de niveau gastronomique mais plutôt catastrophique. Mesdames et messieurs du service, mémorisez les commandes pour que le client puisse être servi et ne fuyez pas le plat à peine fini d'annoncer. Je pense que nous vous avons tous vu défiler pendant le dîner. Quant au manager, managez vos équipes et ne mettez pas un valet de chambre pour faire le service. Quant au Chef, mettez de la saveur et du relief dans vos plats, c'est censé être gastronomique, pas une assiette d'apparat grotesque. Je souhaite un entretien avec la Direction, me recontacter s'il vous plaît en retour. Bravo pour le cadre qui est magnifique lui!

Venu ici pour faire escale lors d’un passage à Giverny. La chambre dorée était très agréable. Nous avons apprécié la literie. Cadre très jolie qui fait rêver. Restaurant délicieux et très beau. Personnel agréable. Merci à la jeune femme de la réception pour son amabilité et son sourire. Nous reviendrons ultérieurement. Très bon séjour pour nous.
